The Opening

What realities merges through the computer lens of the videocall? How can we describe them?

The general objective was to find a way of describing the connected space that opens up when we turn on the camera of the video call. Since this kind of semi-virtual spaces are becoming a greater and greater part of our lives in these times, we need to find ways to communicate these special compositions. As well as that a physical room can be described in plenty of ways, a virtual extended room can.  An interesting observation from the research is the slots in between our exposed isovists where in the visual representation the homes portrayed get entangled in each other, just as you might be used to in video calls when suddenly a new person is in the room, of who’s presence you were not aware of. Or if a pet occurs and the participants melt in their appearance because of this break of “nature” coming in.
